Raising a Happy Child

Exploring the forest near our home
Michelle and I have both had the opportunity to benefit from excellent educations, and your child will have that same chance. Education is important, as it creates opportunities. Before we became parents, we listened to our niece and nephews tell stories about their adventures at school, and it made us realize that we wanted to be involved in our child’s education. We don’t just want to hear about their day at school; we want to join them on their journey discovering this world. So Addison participates in a daycare program that offers an attentive environment, along with early education opportunities that encourage us to be involved. The daycare also teaches us so we can be better parents to help our child learn new skills and show them how much fun school can be. And Addison loves it! She is always talking about her friends at school or her teachers and the games they play.We have a great time helping Addison practise and build on what she has learned through bedtime stories, sing-songs, finger painting, and her favourite – colouring. And we will give your child the same kind of love and attention that has helped Addison learn and thrive.
As kids, we both spent a lot of time on family outings, both on long camping vacations and day trips to the zoo. My favourite part of camping was learning how to carve scrap pieces of wood with my Dad next to the campfire. These early times spent working with my dad gave me the “I can build it!” attitude I have today. I remember countless summer weekends at my grandparents’ cottage, floating on the inner tube in the river or going really fast in Grandpa’s speedboat. We feel it is important that a child experience a variety of activities and that we share many of these experiences as a family. We believe that varied experiences help a child find their own path.Recently we enrolled Addison in gymnastics class after she discovered the trampoline in our neighbour’s yard. She has already learned to jump, roll and touch her toes, but she says the trampoline is still her favourite. Last summer Addison also fell in love with the animals at the zoo, so now we have a season’s pass and go whenever we have a chance. She says she likes the monkeys the best, and sheeven dressed up as a monkey for Halloween. We wonder what your child will enjoy, what activities they will aspire to be part of…
