Providing a Solid Foundation

Like most families today, we both work. This allows us to live a comfortable lifestyle, own our home and provide for the future and our family. We both have a strong work ethic and enjoy our professions. Although we work hard for our 7.5-hour workday, we believe that every other hour of the day should be dedicated to family time and family activities. It is important for us to provide the best possible opportunities for our children, and our work and work environments allow us to do just that.
I have found a profession I really enjoy, and I think it sets a good example for a child to see their mother fulfilled by what she does. I work as a designer of training and learning for an organization that puts family first. My employer supports a balance between work and family with parental leave, plenty of vacation time, flexible hours and family emergency days. I will be able to take an extended leave for your baby’s first year and use vacation days to help with the gradual transition to preschool. I also work close to home, so I can be at the school in minutes whenever I am needed.
I have worked for the same organization for eleven years, and today I work to develop creative ways to bring our products to our customers. The close-knit community that my company encourages has allowed Michelle and me to make lots of close connections. I not only work with colleagues; as you can see in these photos, I work with friends. The company is very supportive of our plans to adopt again, and I can take an extended leave so I can spend the first few weeks at home. After that I have plenty of vacation time I can use throughout the first year and to help with the first days of preschool.
Since we both work, our childcare plan includes full-time daycare during the week. We interviewed dozens of caregivers before we decided on a preschool for Addison around the corner from our home. We chose it for its devoted teachers and their focus on developing each child’s unique skills through play, social activities and individual support and encouragement. The teachers love their work and show it with special stickers to celebrate a job well done, one-on-one story time and individual daily progress reports. Our flexible schedules and family support also allows Addison the occasional weekday field trip or cozy sick day at home. Your child we attend the same preschool as Addison and have the same opportunities for spontaneous days with Grandma or to stay home for a day of rest.
